Table Bay Mall is proud to announce a host of exciting new stores that will bring added energy and increased variety for customers in the lead up to Christmas. This year alone, the mall has opened eight new stores, with an additional eight store opening in the coming months, which equates to more than 2,730m2 of retail space being added to its 2020 offering.
The largest and most exciting developments are the Baby City and Fashion Cube openings. The 1,065m2 Baby City store opened its doors in August, and is one of the first new concept stores of its kind to open since the Dis-Chem Group purchased Baby City at the start of 2021.
In addition, a unique Table Bay Mall initiative, The Fashion Cube, is set to open in November. This newly-built and designed 360m² retail space will consist of 32 retail units where small business fashions brands display their product ranges in a stylish retail space that features modern and immaculate fitting rooms.
Despite the economic strain experienced by the retail industry over the past 18 months, shopping malls have reported a recovery in footfall and retail sales. In fact, lockdowns have favoured community and regional malls such as Table Bay Mall that give consumers a quick in-and-out shopping experience.
Table Bay Mall, in particular, has continued to show positive growth compared to other shopping centres. “COVID has undoubtedly affected our industry, but we are very pleased that we have been performing above expectation with constant growth in shopper numbers and turnover. In line with this, we have secured a total of 16 new stores this year.
“We can’t wait to introduce our new retail concepts and brands to our shoppers and we know that they are going to be delighted with the added choice, variety and product selection on offer,” says Rian Thompson, Centre Manager at Table Bay Mall.
The following new stores, totalling an additional 989m2 of retail space, will soon be opening:
- Bootlegger Coffee Company
- Factorie
- Petshop Science, Checker’s standalone pet shop
- Spitfire, luxury furniture store
- Seattle Coffee Company
- Lovisa fashionable jewellery & accessories
- Vendange Furniture
- TikTok Studio, an original concept store aimed at the youth, artists and content creators.
Supporting Small Businesses
Table Bay Mall has always been committed to supporting small businesses and ensuring their on-going success by creating spaces where they can showcase their brands. Small business initiatives at the mall include The Creative Cube, The Food Cube, the Table Bay Mall Market, the annual Festive Market and the soon to open, Fashion Cube.
“To date, we have been able to successfully house 130 small locally-made small businesses and they have been warmly welcomed and supported by our shoppers. We wanted to step out of the normal retail box and open our retail space to these amazing small businesses. Their passion and enthusiasm have been contagious and the initiative has been a great success,” explains Thompson.
“We are so proud to be an attractive and exciting retail destination for our local community and we are constantly working to ensure that the tenants and brands we have on offer will provide a stand-out shopping experience. We want our customers to enjoy the time they spend with us and return time and time again to explore our offering,” concludes Thompson.
